●Match Digest
The opponent for Sec. 3 of the 2nd League of the 34th Japan Club Youth Soccer Championship (U-18) Kanto Tournament in 2010 was FC Tripleta. Following yesterday's consecutive match, the game kicked off at 3:00 p.m. under strong sunlight and intense heat.
The match started with the opponent's kickoff, and Akioka fiercely charged at the ball and took possession. Then, at 2 minutes, Maeka's first shot of the day hit the opposing defender and earned a corner kick. Sasaki took the corner, perfectly connecting with Matsufuji's run, who delivered a wonderful headed shot to score the opening goal early on.
At the 8th minute, Hashimoto quickly switched and took the ball, dribbled forward, and after getting past the opposing defender, he was tripped and earned a free kick in a good position. He aimed directly at goal, but the shot hit the wall and resulted in a corner kick. Hashimoto headed back the corner kick that was crossed to the far side, but it was caught by the opposing goalkeeper.
At the 13th minute, a long side change was made from Iwaki on the left side to Eguchi on the opposite side, and Eguchi tried to break through with a one-two pass with Hiroki, but the pass was a bit too long and was intercepted by the advancing opposing goalkeeper. At the 14th minute, Matsufuji took the ball and passed it to Sasaki in the center, who then played a through pass to Iwaki on the left side. Iwaki sent a cross between the opposing goalkeeper and the defensive line, but it was cleared by a desperate sliding tackle from the opposing defender, resulting in a corner kick. After a short pass from the corner, Muramatsu took a bold shot, but it narrowly went over the crossbar.
At the 16th minute, Muramatsu broke through on the left side with a one-two pass with Sasaki, then passed further outside to Iwaki. Iwaki dribbled past one opposing DF and sent a superb cross between the opposing GK and the DF line, but it crossed in front of the goal and no one could connect. After that, they were able to keep possession, but noticeable passing mistakes in the final moments prevented them from creating many chances.
At the 31st minute, from a corner kick, the ball met Matsufuji's head who ran to the far side, but it went just over the crossbar. At the 33rd minute, Akioka broke through on the right side and crossed a low ball back, but Eguchi's shot was met with a great save by the opposing goalkeeper, and it did not result in a goal.
At the 34th minute, from a side change by Hiroki on the left to Eguchi on the right side, Eguchi sent an early cross behind the opponent's defensive line. Then, Akio, who ran in, touched the ball one step ahead of the rushing opposing goalkeeper and calmly kicked it into the goal, scoring the second goal.
At the 40th minute, the ball was passed from Hiroki to Eguchi on the right side, then to Sasaki who ran into the space ahead. Sasaki crossed to Akioka, who was calling for the ball inside, but the opposing defender cleared it a step ahead. At the 43rd minute, from a corner kick, Sasaki passed the ball to Akioka near the near post and received it back, then took a direct lob shot, but it was saved by the opposing goalkeeper and did not result in a goal.
At the 45th minute, the ball was passed from Eguchi to Sasaki to Hiroki on the right side. Hiroki carried it deep and delivered a cross, and Iwaki took a shot on the far side, but it narrowly missed the target. In stoppage time, Hashimoto pressed from the front and stole the ball, passing it to Eguchi. Eguchi sent a cross to Maeka on the far side, but the header hit an opposing defender and did not result in a goal. The first half ended here. The score at halftime was 2-0.
Early in the second half at the 46th minute, from Maeka's hold-up play, the pass went from Hashimoto to Iwaki on the left side. Iwaki aggressively dribbled past the opposing DF and sent in a cross, but it did not connect with any teammate inside. At the 50th minute, a long pass from Hiroki on the right side went behind the opponent's DF line to Akioka, who dribbled forward and crossed between the opposing GK and DF. Maeka, running into the center, took a shot from behind where Iwaki had been blocked, but it just missed the target.
At the 57th minute, Yuasa was brought on for Iwaki, and Yoshida replaced Eguchi. At the 59th minute, the opponent took a close-range middle shot, but GK Ishida calmly dealt with it. However, at the 60th minute, the right side was broken through and a cross was delivered, leaving the opposite side free and conceding a goal.
Tokyo wanted to switch gears, but that one goal gave the opponent momentum, and in the 61st minute, they were allowed a free shot. The shot deflected off a DF, changing its course and making it difficult, but GK Ishida made a great save and prevented any additional goals.
At the 62nd minute, breaking through on the right side, a cross was delivered that perfectly met the free Maeka’s head. However, Maeka’s header went off target, and they could not add another goal.
Immediately after, Saito was brought on to replace Akioka, and at the 69th minute, Iwata was substituted in for the visibly tired Maeka.
After that, Tokyo struggled to find their rhythm against the momentum of the opposing team. Even when they regained possession, simple mistakes and easy clearances prevented them from maintaining control of the ball for any length of time. In the 74th minute, goalkeeper Ishida, who rushed out to intercept a cross, collided with an opposing player and was injured, leading to the debut of Tani in an official match. Although they still struggled to find their rhythm afterward, Tani’s loud coaching helped prevent the opponents from getting shots on goal.
In the 81st minute, Yuasa took the ball on the left side, quickly accelerating and breaking through with a dribble. He skillfully evaded the opposing defenders one after another and took a shot, but the opposing GK made a great save, preventing a goal. Iwata's shot in the 89th minute was also blocked by the opposing GK.
Although we couldn't disrupt the opponent's rhythm until the end, we managed to maintain our concentration and hold onto the lead until the final whistle. We won 2-1.
