○Match Report
The Final Round of the 18th Tokyo Club Youth Soccer U-13 Championship was held at AJINOMOTO FIELD NISHIGAOKA, where snowflakes were falling. U-15 Fukagawa aimed for consecutive victories by winning the Final Round for the second year in a row. The heated match against Mitsubishi Yowa SC Sugamo Junior Youth kicked off at 10:00 a.m.
In the early stages, Suzuki and Yogai on the left side created chances, but the battle in midfield dragged on. Despite Yowa's possession steadily building up with quick, coordinated play, they struggled to bring it to a finish. Fukagawa, centered around the CB duo Kusazumi and Taniwo, firmly blocked with their bodies even when pushed deep into their own half. Even when losing the ball, they repeatedly reorganized and aimed for the goal, with the two forwards Komatsu and Takahashi boldly attacking. However, just before the end of the first half, when conceding a free kick in a dangerous situation, goalkeeper Omoto made a fine save with one right hand, and the half ended with momentum on their side.
Both teams aimed to score, and from the start of the second half, driven by a strong determination to "definitely win," their reactions to Yowa's ball became quicker as they fought to regain possession. Fukagawa made fresh substitutions, bringing on Ohira for Suzuki at the 39th minute and Kento for Takahashi at the 41st minute, increasing their attacking variations. Although Yowa maintained control for a prolonged period, goalkeeper Omoto made excellent saves, continuously holding firm until the very end. Seizing an opportunity, Kento, starting an attack from Sakai, demonstrated outstanding ball retention after winning the ball in a scramble, allowing Komatsu to take a shot. With a formation change substituting Sano for Sakai at the 49th minute, Fukagawa launched a fierce offensive in the final stages, including Komatsu receiving a long feed from Taya and shooting with a heel strike, but the half ended in a scoreless draw.
The match went into a penalty shootout, with Tokyo scoring 2 goals and Yowa scoring 4, resulting in a disappointing defeat.
Although the players showed tears of frustration, they gained confidence from advancing this far together and were likely able to identify challenges for further improvement. I hope they turn this painful experience into strength, grow powerfully, and become even greater.
