□What is the FLOAT app
Due to the impact of COVID-19, a different approach from group on-site activities is necessary. The app "FLOAT" created this time aims to raise awareness of the term "River Litter" among as many people as possible. The current version models four rivers worldwide, including the Arakawa River. Within the app, a large amount of river litter accumulated on the riverbed and floating artificial debris continuously flow by. Efficiently collecting these will cause fish species unique to each river to appear. Additionally, funding for activities is generated through users watching video ads and in-app purchases, establishing a system to collect and visualize litter from actual rivers (initially assuming the Arakawa River). The results will be reported on a dedicated website.

□About the NPO Arakawa Clean Aid Forum
The NPO Arakawa Clean Aid Forum, based in Edogawa Ward, Tokyo, with Director Kazushi Imamura in charge (hereinafter referred to as Arakawa Clean Aid Forum), addresses river and marine litter issues and aims for a society living in harmony with nature.
Through investigating and collecting trash in the Arakawa River, the Arakawa Clean Aid Forum has fostered the restoration of the natural environment and created opportunities for people who gather around the Arakawa River to connect and share their thoughts. The activities began in 1994, and over the past 27 years, more than 240,000 participants have taken part, increasing awareness of the river. In recognition of these achievements, the forum received the top award at the 2019 Marine Litter Zero Awards.
