○Match Report
【Challenge for the Future!】
"(After losing twice to Nagoya in 2015) We must not lose three times to the same opponent. It is unavoidable if we want to win the treble. It is natural that things won't go smoothly. Let's proceed with the game calmly and passionately."
Under the chilly weather with sunlight streaming through the clouds, the Tokyo eleven faced the match inspired by Coach Sato's words.
【First Half】
The game started with a kickoff by Nagoya Grampus U18, and the first shot was by Tokyo.
On the right side, Matsuoka took a powerful shot following Uchida's hold-up play. It just missed the target.
Tokyo pressed from the start, and at 3 minutes, Hanya followed up on Kubo's rebound shot, then Kubo kicked the ball again to score the opening goal.
At the 11th minute, Tokyo displayed coordinated attacks, including Okaniwa advancing up the right side and taking a shot.
At the 13th minute, Kubo broke through the right side, and Arakawa dribbled past a defender on the return pass to score, making it 2-0.
In response, Nagoya created several chances by the 18th minute and managed to take shots, but Go HATANO calmly responded and prevented any goals.
At the 24th and 25th minutes, Kubo and Hangai each managed to get shots off but were unable to score a third goal.
Even when Tokyo lost possession, they quickly switched gears to regain the ball and brought the game back to their own rhythm.
Due to the rain the previous day and the chilly weather, the pitch was muddy, but Nagoya gradually started moving the ball and creating attacking opportunities.
Then, in the 41st minute, Tokyo’s defensive line was breached from behind, resulting in a conceded goal.
In the final stages, Nagoya took a slight offensive, but the first half ended with a score of 2-1.
[Second Half]
At the start, the right side was broken through and a shot was taken.
In response, Tokyo also continued the battle for control in both offense and defense, with Uchida drifting to the left side and attempting a breakthrough.
In the 58th minute, four players combined on the right side, and finally Uchida took a shot, but his foot got caught in the muddy pitch, preventing a clean hit.
After that, following Uchida's brilliant ball recovery, Ito, Okaniwa, and Hangai consecutively created chances, increasing the pressure on goal for Tokyo.
Tokyo began to regain their rhythm with forward momentum and fighting spirit, but the match developed into an intense battle as Nagoya launched quick breakthroughs whenever they saw a chance.
At the 75th minute, Nagoya created a decisive opportunity, but Go HATANO made a big save.
Then, at the 77th minute, Tokyo also pressed on the right side with Matsuoka and Kubo showing persistence, and finally Arakawa aimed for the goal but narrowly missed.
In the 87th minute, after withstanding Nagoya's attack, Ito did not miss Suzuki (Iku)'s run and played a through pass on the counterattack.
Suzuki (Iku) faced a one-on-one with the GK but did not score.
Although leading by one goal, the match was such that it would not have been surprising for either side to score, but the game ended as is at full time.
While continuing activities in parallel with J3, they avenged their defeat against Nagoya and advanced to the best 8.
Thank you very much for your warm support to the players today.
