○ Match Digest
The 2nd Round of the Prince Takamado Cup Kanto Tournament was held at Ajinomoto West Stadium under cold winter rain. The match kicked off with Yowa Chofu in possession. The rain made the pitch slippery and difficult to play on.
In the early stages, Tokyo moved the ball to try to find the rhythm of the game. However, due to the tension, they struggled to connect passes smoothly.
Then the match gradually shifted to Yowa's offensive, and Tokyo entered a defensive phase. At the 13th minute, Yowa exploited a brief lapse and broke through again, unleashing a powerful shot!! GK Hirata reacted quickly to make the save. Following that, shots came in succession, but GK Hirata and the defensive line put their bodies on the line to deny any goals. During this tense period where even a momentary lapse was not allowed, at the 20th minute, Tokyo finally got a chance. Amid midfield passing, a lofted ball reached Miki Kobayashi, who controlled it and turned to shoot!! Unfortunately, it just missed the goal. Tokyo wanted to shift to the offensive from here. However, Tokyo still struggled to build up the game, and instead, Yowa repeatedly penetrated into the area with strong momentum. Yet GK Hirata made crucial saves at the last moment, and Tokyo managed to reach halftime.
In the second half, Tokyo refocused from the start and built the game with their usual passing play. Then, in the 44th minute, Yowa took the ball again and, speeding forward, faced GK in a one-on-one... A bullet shot was fired, but GK Hirata reacted quickly and protected the goal with just his right hand. Although Tokyo continued to control the ball, they could not score, and the time spent defending against Yowa’s speedy attacks increased. However, the DF line and GK managed to protect the goal somehow. In the 70th minute, Tokyo finally launched a fierce attack on Yowa’s goal. From a long-distance free kick, Mikio Kobayashi delivered a superb kick into the space in front of the GK. Although it was initially blocked by a DF, Hara, who was aiming for the rebound, took a shot!! Unfortunately, it was blocked by the DF. With momentum shifting to Tokyo, it seemed the match would go into extra time during stoppage time. Yowa picked up Tokyo’s cleared ball and used their specialty speed to counterattack!! Turning to the final attack, they broke through the side and faced GK Hirata one-on-one!! A shot was aimed at the right side of the goal, and the goal was conceded…
Tokyo immediately switched to offense trying to score a goal, but the merciless final whistle blew... Unable to fully grasp the rhythm of the game throughout, despite numerous saves by GK Hirata, Tokyo conceded a late goal and lost 0-1 to Yowa Chofu. The Prince Takamado Trophy ended in defeat for Tokyo in the Kanto 2nd Round.
