●Match Digest
The opponent in Sec. 2 of the 16th Tokyo Club Youth Soccer (U-13) Championship Tournament Second League was Tokyo Kurume.
The match kicked off at 16:30 amid unstable weather with intermittent rain.

At the start, Tokyo Kurume pressed up to the penalty area.
3 minutes: Defensive midfielder Suzuki cut into the center and took a shot, which the opposing goalkeeper saved. Immediately after, at 4 minutes, from Ozaki’s throw-in, Ito carried the ball from the left to the center and took a shot. The powerful shot unfortunately hit the crossbar and went out.
4 minutes: Ito cut inside from the left following a through pass from Ikiji but was unable to break through the opponent’s defensive line.
8 minutes: Takahashi delivered a long vertical feed in one go to Kuwahara up front. Kuwahara skillfully evaded the opposing defender and took a shot, but unfortunately it went straight to the goalkeeper.
10 minutes: From the left side, the ball was passed one-touch from Ikiji to Ito and back to Ikiji. Ikiji dribbled past the opposing defender and passed the ball to Suzuki in the center, maintaining good rhythm in ball circulation, but the opponent’s focused defense prevented any clear scoring chances.
10 minutes: After struggling to attack and losing the ball, they faced a sharp counterattack, but Sekiguchi showed focused defense and prevented any chances.
11 minutes: Takahashi took a mid-range shot, but it failed to hit the target.
Both teams applied quick pressing in midfield, resulting in a frustrating period where it was difficult to get shots on goal.
18 minutes: The one who broke this atmosphere was Kuwahara. He skillfully evaded the opposing defender and sent a cross ball in front of the goal. Sekiguchi, timing his run well, took a middle-range shot from the right side. The shot hit the target but was caught by the opposing goalkeeper.
19 minutes: The ball is passed from the last line player Sekiguchi, via Ikiji, to Ito on the left side. Ito dribbles past an opponent and takes a shot, but it is blocked by a great save from the opposing goalkeeper.
21 minutes: A wedge pass is played from CB Sekiguchi to Ikiji, who has moved into a post play position. Ikiji times a drop pass perfectly to Ito, who runs in and fires a powerful shot with his left foot! It looked like a goal, but the opposing goalkeeper made a nice save, resulting in a corner kick. From the right side corner kick taken by Ikiji, Kuwahara meets it perfectly with his head, scoring the long-awaited opening goal!!
30 minutes: The last chance of the first half. Starting from a throw-in by Ozaki, the ball is connected at a good tempo from Ikiji to Matsuoka. It seemed like a sudden opportunity, but a foul by the opposing defender was committed here, earning a free kick. Ito took a direct shot from this free kick, but it went straight to the opposing goalkeeper.
The first half ends here without managing to score an additional goal, much to our regret.

The rain has stopped, and now strong west sunlight is shining onto the pitch in the second half.
Hashimoto is brought onto the pitch, replacing Ozaki.
The weather has completely changed from the first half, and skillful passing using the wet pitch will be the key in the second half.

33 minutes: Ikiji timed his press from the front line perfectly to win the ball and, with exquisite timing, played a through pass to Ito charging up the left side! Receiving the ball, Ito launched a quick vertical dribble, carried it to the touchline, and crossed it back. Kuwahara made a well-timed run in the center but just missed connecting, unable to get a shot off.
35 minutes: Otsuka receives the ball on the right side and charges forward with a dribble from midfield. Using his strength and speed, he carries the ball deep into the opponent's territory and wins a corner kick. The ball kicked by Ikuchi perfectly meets Suzuki's head, but it is unlucky for the goal and hits the crossbar. No additional goal.
36 minutes: Tokyo effectively collects second balls and calmly circulates the ball in the back line. When right side back Otsuka receives the ball freely, he immediately sends a through pass to the front. Reacting to this ball, Ikuchi desperately catches up and, with Hashimoto following up, they attempt to break through. They skillfully carry the ball into the penalty area but face determined defense and cannot get a shot off.
37 minutes: Mori is sent onto the pitch, replacing Matsuoka.
38 minutes: Finally, the long-awaited additional goal is scored. The ball is passed from Saijo on the right side to Ikiji in the center, who skillfully evades the opposing defender and shoots! The brilliant shot shakes the goal net.
39 minutes: Riding the momentum from the additional goal, Tokyo immediately regains possession with high pressing and launches an attack from the right side. With coordinated movements between Otsuka and Mori, they evade the opposing defenders, and Otsuka sends a cross to the center. Kuwahara meets it with a header but narrowly misses, sending the ball just to the right of the bar.
40 minutes: Suzuki and Hashimoto collected every loose ball and launched a powerful attack. Once again, the Mori-Otsuka duo created a chance on the right side. Receiving a through pass from Mori, Otsuka quickly cut back and sent the ball in front of the goal with his left foot. The ball hit an opposing defender once, but Saijo volleyed the rebound directly! It would have been a superb goal if it had gone in, but the goalmouth was not beaten.
41 minutes: The scent of a goal begins to emerge starting from the right side. A one-two pass between Otsuka → Ikiji → Otsuka breaks through, leading to a cross. A wonderful ball is sent in front of the goal, and Kuwahara, who ran in again, connects beautifully, but the goalkeeper's spirited save deflects it. Ito quickly restarts the following corner kick, but the defense clears it. Another corner kick is also met with a desperate clearance, and they fail to score.
43 minutes: Suzuki dribbles up the left side. He carries the ball deep and sends a low cross, which Ikiji meets with his right foot, but the shot goes over the bar and no goal is scored.
45 minutes: Mori receives the ball deep in his own half. Confirming he is free, he immediately starts dribbling. Although defenders quickly close in, he uses his speed and powerful, tank-like dribbling to evade one, then two opponents, carrying the ball all the way to the goal alone. He faces the goalkeeper one-on-one and tries to send a final pass to the center, but the ball deflects off an opposing defender and goes into the goal. It was a lucky own goal, but Mori’s powerful dribbling breakthrough was worthy of a goal.
47 minutes: Nagashima is brought on to replace Suzuki.
51 minutes: Ikiji receives a wedge pass in the center and distributes it to Hashimoto on the left side. Hashimoto dribbles past one defender and takes a powerful long-range shot! Although blocked by the opposing defender, Kuwahara quickly shoots the rebound! However, lacking shooting accuracy, they fail to add to the score.
52 minutes: Ishikawa comes onto the pitch, replacing Kuwahara.
54 minutes: Itō, carrying the ball, charges up the left side with momentum. He passes the ball back once to Saijō, who makes a good decision and quickly sends the ball to Mori on the right side. Mori dribbles into the right side, where the marking has shifted due to the quick side change, and crosses! The ball is initially cleared by the center back, but Saijō takes a direct shot on the rebound! The shot just misses to the right of the post, but it was a good attacking move ending with a shot.
56 minutes: Otsuka steals the ball and immediately passes it through to Mori, who has sprinted forward! Mori carries the ball alone and takes a shot, but it goes straight to the goalkeeper. However, the powerful shot spills in front of the goal, and Saijo once again boldly goes for a shot. This shot, too, goes just over the crossbar.
57 minutes: Goalkeeper substitution. Go HATANO heads to the goalmouth, replacing Takigawa.
59 minutes: Ito, running freely up the left side, receives the ball and cuts inside dribbling toward the center. After a shot fake to draw in the defenders, he passes to Mori, who is free on the right side! Mori quickly sends an early cross into the penalty area. Muso tries to connect with the ball but just misses. The opposing defenders desperately try to clear, but in the scramble, the ball deflects off a player and falls perfectly to the free Nagashima, who calmly slots it in to score the decisive fifth goal.
60+2 minutes: Just before the end of the match, Hashimoto broke through on the left side, and Otsuka neatly connected with the cut-back ball to score the sixth goal. Immediately after, the final whistle blew.

In the first half, we struggled to create chances and the game was frustrating, but we made a remarkable recovery at halftime, scoring six goals and securing the victory.
Riding the momentum from this match, we want to play Musashi-style soccer in the next game and secure a victory.
