Commentary

The opponent for the 5th match of the 2009 2nd Tokyo Youth League U15 Soccer League Second Half (Kanto Challenge League) was Forza02. This final official match as 3rd-year students took place at the place where they had put in three years of effort, carrying the strength and feelings of all the 3rd-year students, kicking off at 16:30 in the severe cold.

At 4 minutes into the game, they aggressively marked but were called for a foul, resulting in a free kick for the opponent. The kicked ball directly threatened the goal, but GK Hattori calmly punched it clear. At 9 minutes, from midfield, Takei passed the ball to Yoshida on the flank. Yoshida boldly took on a one-on-one dribble and earned a corner kick. Miura quickly took a short corner and passed it to Takei. Takei then passed it to Kojima, who was positioned away from the goal, and Kojima threatened the opponent’s goal with a powerful long-range shot. At 14 minutes, Iwata received the ball in midfield and drove toward the opponent’s goal with a dribble but was stopped by a foul. Takei aimed directly from the resulting free kick but missed the target. At 16 minutes, Yoshida intercepted the ball and passed it to Takei, who then took a long-range shot, but it went straight to the opposing goalkeeper. At 21 minutes, Miura received a pass from Iwata, evaded an opponent, and delivered an accurate final pass to Kojima, who was running into the far side, but Kojima’s control was slightly off, and the opponent’s goalkeeper intercepted it. However, Kojima’s active participation in the attack helped create rhythm. Defensively, Ito accurately predicted and secured second balls and loose balls, while Asano and Tokuda effectively cut off the opponent’s sharp counterattack opportunities. At 27 minutes, a series of quick passes—Kan to Iwata to Buzo Amos to Takei to Kan to Yoshida—shook the opponent. At 28 minutes, Miura skillfully used his surroundings to advance and then switched play to Takei on the side. Takei’s cross was caught by the opposing goalkeeper, but the team continued to attack with good rhythm. At 31 minutes, the attack progressed with passes from Ito to Kojima to Iwata but was stopped by a foul, resulting in a free kick. Tokuda’s free kick reached Iwata on the far side, who headed it back, but Miura just missed it, and the ball was cleared at the last moment. Just before halftime, a deep cross came in from the right side, but Asano cleared it at the last second. At the start of the second half, Higashimura, Morita, Sugaya, Arai, Aki, and Iguro were brought onto the pitch, aiming to score.

Just after the start of the second half, Tokuda played a wedge pass to Iwata, who turned and passed to Sugaya. However, it was just slightly off. At the 37th minute, Iwata received a wedge pass from Yoshida, turned again, and aimed for a shot, but the ground shot went wide to the left. At the 42nd minute, the ball went from Yoshida to Takei to Sugaya, then to Aki on the opposite side. Aki made a one-touch pass to Iwata for the final pass. However, Iwata’s shot went over the bar. At the 43rd minute, Yoshida dribbled past several opponents from midfield and took a shot. It looked like a goal, but it just missed the target. Even in the second half, Sugaya and Iguro focused on winning second balls, spreading the play left and right to gain rhythm. At the 46th minute, the opponents played a long ball behind the defense, but Morita calmly dealt with it. Then at the 48th minute, when the opponent took a free kick, GK Higashimura caught it and quickly fed the ball forward to create a chance. Takei played a one-two with Arai and sent a final pass, but it was cut off by the opposing defender. After that, the opponents persistently played long balls behind the defense, but Asano and Morita defended them successfully. At the 50th minute, from a free kick chance, a scramble occurred in front of the opponent’s goal. Sugaya dove headfirst for the loose ball but was stopped by the opposing GK. At the 52nd minute, the opponents pushed into the goal area and created a dangerous scene, but Yoshida blocked with a sliding tackle. At the 55th minute, Aki attacked down the left side and created a chance. With a relentless attack, they pressed in front of the opponent’s goal and Arai created a chance, but was blocked by a physically strong defender. From the corner kick gained from this play, Arai tried a volley again but couldn’t connect well. At the 62nd minute, Iguro’s shot hit the bar directly, failing to score. Also at the 62nd minute, Arai intercepted and passed to Takei, who switched the play to Tokuda on the opposite side, but it was cut off. At the 65th minute, from Aki’s dribble, he passed to Yoshida and crossed, but it didn’t connect.
At the 67th minute, the speedy Abe came onto the pitch. U-15 Musashi kept pushing toward the goal without giving up until the end. The newly substituted Abe created a chance, but the opponents defended desperately. Everyone challenged for victory until the very end but couldn’t score, and the match ended in a 0-0 draw. This was the last official match for U-15 Musashi this season, but we hope each player will work hard on their own paths to shine brightly on the next stage. We sincerely thank all the parents who have supported us for three years and everyone who cheered us on.
