Commentary
The 2009 Tokyo Youth League (U-15) soccer match against JACPA Tokyo. The game started at 6:00 p.m. on a muggy evening. From the start, the opponent pressed forward, delivering an early cross from the left side that caused a tense moment but narrowly missed, avoiding danger. Immediately after, a breakaway shot came from the center, but GK Hattori made the save. They wanted to push back somehow, but at the 8th minute, Miura picked up a loose ball from a corner kick and sent in a cross, which Iguro met. After controlling it, he aimed a volley, but it went outside the side netting. At the 18th minute, Kojima made a speedy dribble breakthrough and sent a grounded cross to the center, but the timing was off. Then at the 19th minute, as they tried to attack, the ball was intercepted in midfield, leading to a quick counterattack that caught the defense off guard. A shot was taken, but GK Hattori reacted quickly, stretching out his left hand to barely save it. However, just after, at the 21st minute, they suffered a counterattack in exactly the same way and this time the opponent scored a sure goal, conceding the first goal. At the 25th minute, after receiving a pass from Miura, Arai sent a through pass to Ito, who faced the opposing GK one-on-one. Although the GK blocked the first attempt, Ito quickly reacted to the rebound but was charged from behind by a defender and fell, resulting in a penalty kick decision. Asano calmly converted this PK to equalize. At the 28th minute, they faced a counterattack threat, but Kojima never gave up and stayed close, sliding to prevent the opponent from taking an easy shot, ending the first half tied.
From the start of the second half, Iwata, Takei, and Kamoike were brought on, aiming for a comeback, but immediately after kickoff, the opponent’s free kick. A casual long ball played near the center line was headed in, resulting in a conceded goal and falling behind 1-2 again. However, in the 42nd minute, Iwata received a pass from Kamoike, used those around him as decoys, dribbled forward, and took a shot. Although the opposing GK parried it, Kamoike, who passed to Iwata, ran in and pushed the ball in, leveling the score at 2-2. At the 46th minute, Aki entered the pitch. Just after coming on, Aki jumped to meet a cross but narrowly missed the target. At the 54th minute, Tokuda, and at the 55th minute, Higashimura were sent onto the pitch. Then, in the 58th minute, Miura’s through pass reached Aki running down the left side. Carrying the ball deeply to the goal line at full speed, he sent a grounded cross with a shooting intent to the center. Takei ran in and connected with a difficult touch, and the ball was drawn into the side netting, scoring the go-ahead goal. At the 60th minute, Sugaya received a pass from Tokuda, cut inside, and aimed a shot, but the opposing GK saved it. In the 62nd minute, after a brilliant transition to regain possession, Iwata received Miura’s through pass and scored into the left corner of the goal at full speed, making it 4-2. At the 64th minute, Yoshida overlapped at speed and crossed. Tokuda controlled and aimed a lob shot, but the opposing GK caught it. At the 65th minute, Aki received the ball from Higashimura on the right side, dribbled into the center of the penalty area, and took a shot, but the opposing GK saved it. At the 68th minute, Morita received a pass from Sugaya and powerfully sliced through the right side with a dribble, then passed to Takei in the center. Takei flowed it to Miura on the left side, who softly touched it into the goal, making it 5-2. At the 70th minute, Miura scored directly from a free kick in front of the goal, making it 6-2. Furthermore, in stoppage time, from a short corner, Kamoike pushed the ball in to make it 7-2, and the match ended there. The second half saw many attacking periods, but the defense led by Asano prevented crises before they happened and ultimately became the driving force behind the large number of goals. There are more matches tomorrow that cannot be lost, but we want to fight with full concentration as a team.
