Commentary

The third match of the 2009 Tokyo International Youth (U-14) Soccer Tournament was against Smena. To advance to the upper tournament, not only a victory but also a high number of goals was necessary. The starting whistle blew at 2:30 p.m. Right from the start, U-15 Musashi attacked the opponent’s goal. They boldly aimed for shots mainly through side attacks. At the 7th minute, they created a chance from a cross by Kamoike on the right side, but the goalkeeper saved it, preventing a goal. They continued to create chances through side attacks. Then at the 13th minute, from a right corner kick by Kamoike, Yanagisawa scored a header in the center, taking the lead. Wanting more goals, U-15 Musashi scored their second at the 19th minute, this time from a left corner kick by Takayama, with Kamoike heading the ball in the center. They added a goal at a good time and ended the first half.

In the second half, U-15 Musashi aggressively pushed forward to score a third goal. However, the opponents also attempted a counterattack. At the 22nd minute, they faced a dangerous situation from a corner kick but managed to withstand it. At the 26th and 30th minutes, Kamoike actively took shots but failed to hit the target. Then at the 34th minute, the ball was passed from Misawa on the left side to Ito in the center, who took a shot that scored, making it 3-0. Still eager to score more, U-15 Musashi continued their attack. With time running out, at the 38th minute Yajima aimed a long-range shot but missed. Just when it seemed the match would end, in stoppage time Kitagawa tenaciously pushed in a loose ball from a corner kick, making it 4-0. The match then ended. Ultimately, these four goals became the deciding factor in the wildcard competition, allowing them to advance to the Semifinal Round.
