○Match Report
[Continuing the Build-Up and Inheriting the History]
The Premier League resumed after about six weeks, with the Club Youth Kanto Tournament in between.
The opponent in Sec. 7 was Omiya Ardija Youth, who both achieved promotion to the Premier League this season.
Coach Sato also told the team, "Matches after a break are difficult. Let's fight gritty, tenaciously, and shrewdly to cling to the top positions," as they approached the match.
From the beginning, a test of patience continued against Omiya's systematic possession soccer.
At the 10th minute, after Sato's corner kick was flicked one-touch by Yoshitake SUZUKI to the center on the far side, Okuma timed his run perfectly and headed the ball to score the opening goal.
Although Omiya continued to control the ball, Tokyo responded patiently and went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
At halftime, the players discussed points for improvement among themselves, and Coach Sato reaffirmed the importance of fighting with both persistence and toughness, tightening their focus as they headed into the second half.
The second half also continued with a patient game, but centered around GK Go HATANO, the team defended tenaciously with their bodies and did not allow the goal to be broken.
From around the 60th minute, the number of times they won the ball in midfield increased, and they created several decisive chances from sharp counterattacks, but Omiya maintained their concentration and did not concede any additional goals.
The tense back-and-forth battle continued, but in the 86th minute, they were caught off guard by a counterattack and conceded an equalizer.
In the remaining time, they desperately pressed forward to score, taking a total of 9 shots in the match, but failed to shake the net, and the game ended as is.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
After the match, Coach Sato said, "It was a very good game with high concentration from both sides. It’s great that we were able to earn one point. There are also issues such as final precision and being caught off guard by small gaps. Let’s continue to build on this in daily practice and prepare well for the next match."
