●Match Digest
The opponent in the 1st Round of the Prince Takamado Trophy 22nd All Japan Youth (U-15) Soccer Championship Kanto Tournament, which is the last tournament of this season, was Kashima Antlers Norte, who had defeated us in the Club Youth Championship qualifiers. To avenge that loss and to advance to the national tournament, this must-win match kicked off at 1:30 p.m.
Fukagawa, aggressively attacking from the start, earned consecutive free kicks and corner kicks but could not capitalize on them; however, the players' determination for this match was evident. Then, in the 4th minute, Saito stole the ball in midfield and passed it to Tomita, who immediately passed behind the opposing defenders. Yamaguchi, running in, skillfully positioned his body against the defender to keep possession and broke past the defender but fell; Tomita, running onto the loose ball, took a shot, which was blocked by the opposing defender, missing the first chance.
Conversely, at the 6th minute, there was a scare when the opponent’s free kick was headed away, but it went wide. Then at the 8th minute, the opponent broke through with a dribble, bypassing the last line of defense and creating a dangerous situation, but GK Oida stopped it with one hand on the left. At the 10th minute, Watanabe read the play sharply and stole the ball, then passed it along from Yamaguchi to Tomita and back to Yamaguchi, who then passed to Tomita running wide outside. Tomita sent in a cross, but it just missed Saito who was running inside. Then at the 11th minute, Tomita received the ball from Kawakami and broke through on the left side, carried it further, and took a shot near the goal line, but was blocked by the opposing goalkeeper. Up to this point, with powerful pressing and quick transitions, they repeatedly stole the ball high up the field and launched attacks. Even when under pressure, the defenders held firm with tenacious defense, and the midfielders pressed back faster than the opponents, consistently creating numerical superiority and maintaining the advantage.
At the 17th minute, Yamaguchi picked up a loose ball from a free kick and skillfully evaded two opposing defenders with a Marseille turn before crossing. Kato connected with a header, but it went straight to the opposing goalkeeper. The match was mostly played in the opponent's half, but at the 30th minute, a brief lapse allowed the opposing team to get behind the defensive line and take a free shot. GK Oida made a great save once, but the rebound was pushed in, conceding the first goal. Afterwards, despite repeatedly earning set pieces, they continued to miss their chances, and at the 39th minute, a headed shot from a corner kick was scored, making it 0-2, and the first half ended as such.
Although they conceded two goals in the first half, Fukagawa was in control of the game, so they wanted to proceed calmly in the second half as well. At the 44th minute, Kato and then Yamaguchi took consecutive shots from the rebound of a corner kick, but both were blocked by the opposing defenders. Immediately after, Watanabe picked up the rebound from another corner kick and made a through pass to Kawakami, who ran in. Receiving the ball, Kawakami carried it inside and took a shot, but it slightly hit the opposing defender and narrowly missed the target, failing to convert this chance as well.
Even after entering the second half, they continued creating chances, and at the 54th minute, from defender Takada on the back line to Kawakami on the left side, then to the overlapping Endo, who drove forward with a vertical dribble and earned a corner kick. After a short pass, Kawakami sent in a cross, and Saito skillfully connected with his left foot to score the long-awaited goal, raising the banner of counterattack.
Momentum building for Fukagawa, they push forward with power and determination. In the 65th minute, Kawakami’s cross reaches the wide-open Tomita on the far side, who calmly takes a shot, but it is blocked by the opposing defender. Then, Kato takes a direct shot on the rebound, but it goes over the bar. Then, in the 67th minute, Kawakami sends a corner kick to the far side, Saito heads the ball back, and Endo heads it in to score. Finally, they bring the game to a tie.
Fukagawa, eager to take the lead with this momentum, faced a direct free kick in the 72nd minute, but GK Oida made a fine save. Furthermore, the entire team threw their bodies to block the opponent’s second attack from the rebound, escaping this danger. After that, they continued running with incredible stamina, quickly closing in with two or three players whenever the opponent had the ball to surround and try to regain possession. However, in the 75th minute, just as they tried to regain the ball and launch an attack, they lost it again to the opponent. A volley shot was struck at the perfect timing from a cross ball; although GK Oida saved it once, the rebound was pushed in, and they fell behind once more.
With no choice but to go for the goal, Fukagawa immediately brought on Kishi and Sekine to launch an attack. Then, in the 80th minute, Kishi received the ball in the center, quickly accelerated to get past the opposing defenders, and despite the angle being tight, he faced only the opposing goalkeeper with a golden opportunity. However, Kishi's shot mercilessly missed the target and did not result in a goal. After that, they continued to run toward the goal without giving up until the very end, but the match ended with the final whistle. Although they managed to equalize once from a two-goal deficit, they were unable to secure the victory.
