[Players comments added] Announcement of players selected to SAMURAI BLUE (Japan National Team)
The Japan Football Association (JFA) announced today (5 November) that FC Tokyo’s Masato Morishige and Yuichi Maruyama had been selected to the SAMURAI BLUE (Japan National Team) squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Asian Qualifiers Round 2, combined with the Asian Cup UAE 2019 Qualifiers.

“I am truly honored to be selected for the national team. I will make sure to play hard to contribute to the team and do my best with my teammates to win the qualifying matches. Although these are away matches, many supporters will come to Singapore for them, so I want to bring victories to them. First of all, I will give 100% for my club in the Kashiwa match this weekend. I will prepare to win that match and then join the national team.”

“I am very happy to be selected to the national team. As a representative of Tokyo and as a representative of Japan, I will do my best to help the team as well as I keep showing my strength, although the matches will be physically tough away matches. I hope we will have continuous support.
