【Challenge for the Future!】
The Semifinal Round of the 40th Japan Club Youth Soccer Championship (U-18) held at the home venue, AJINOMOTO FIELD NISHIGAOKA.
The opponent was Kawasaki Frontale U-18, who advanced through the Kanto qualifiers.
They have advanced with a very tenacious performance so far, and before the match, Coach Sato also gave instructions to "be especially careful when our time is continuing."
Despite being a weekday, many fans and supporters of both teams attended, and the match started at 4:00 PM.
【First Half】
Despite occasional winds, under the harsh humid weather, the match started with Kawasaki's kickoff.
As time passed, Tokyo began to maintain possession and increased their attacking opportunities.
At the 11th minute, after clearing Kawasaki's corner kick, Hasukawa launched a counterattack. Passing through the center, he switched play to Hanya on the right side. Hanya dribbled further forward and delivered a decisive grounded cross in front of the goal, but it was cut off by Kawasaki.
At the 18th minute, Uchida cut in from the left side and dribbled up to the goal line. From there, he sent a short final pass to the center in front of the goal, and Ikiji connected with a direct touch, but the ball went over the crossbar.
At the 19th minute, Hirakawa’s decisive long-range shot hit the crossbar. Hanya tried to push in the rebound, but could not score against Kawasaki’s persistent defense.
At the 28th minute, in the rhythm of Tokyo, as they tried to advance from the center of their own half, they were pressed and lost the ball to Kawasaki. From a through pass by Kawasaki MF No.10 Tanaka, MF Kuriwaki, who had surged forward, scored a stunning shot, conceding the first goal.
Tokyo continued to press forward, while Kawasaki launched counterattacks, but despite consecutive set-piece opportunities gained in the final stages, they could not capitalize and went into the second half trailing.
[Halftime]
Coach Sato
"Let's improve the quality of each and every action.
Have confidence in ourselves, trust our teammates, and fight for the remaining 45 minutes.
【Second Half】
Kubo, who came on in the second half, charged forward with a dribble. He was fouled and earned a free kick slightly to the right just outside the area. At 3 minutes, Kubo took a direct shot, and a sharp strike was swallowed by the goal! Kubo scored with his first touch and first play after coming on!! The score is tied!
Taking advantage of this goal, Tokyo began to find their rhythm and momentum. At the 11th minute, after a pass exchange on the left side, Hirakawa, cutting inside, dribbled smoothly weaving through the opposing defenders. He carried the ball into the left area and struck a sharp shot with his left foot! The shot was placed low to the right side of the goal, successfully turning the game around.
At the 14th minute, Hanya made a daring move and won a free kick on the left side. Uchida perfectly connected with the kick sent forward by Kiji and scored with a precise header!!
At the 21st minute, Okazaki from our own half aimed a long pass behind the opponent’s defense. Hanya ran in, touched the ball before the rushing opposing GK, and his floating shot was absorbed into the empty goal for a GOAL!!
Despite falling behind by three goals, Kawasaki did not give up and tried to counterattack, but Tokyo pushed their line up, pressed aggressively from the front, and launched short counters. At the 35th minute, they gained possession in the opponent's half, and Matsuoka charged forward. Surrounded by Kawasaki defenders, he forcefully aimed and scored with a lob!!
In the final stages, both teams began to show signs of fatigue, leading to a back-and-forth attacking battle. Although the 6th goal was not scored, Kawasaki's counterattack was firmly held off with concentration until time was up.
With a united and aggressive performance, they scored a storm of 5 goals in the second half to achieve a come-from-behind victory! Advancing to the Final Round for the first time in two years!
Thank you very much for your warm support for the players today as well.
