2015 Kanto Youth (U-15) Soccer League Division 1 Sec. 17. The second direct confrontation between "FC Tokyo U-15 Musashi vs FC Tokyo U-15 Fukagawa."
Musashi, in 2nd place with 30 points from 9 wins, 3 draws, and 5 losses, is 6 points behind the leader Urawa. Including today's match, there are 4 games remaining. To win the championship, they need to keep winning.
On the other hand, Fukagawa is in 10th place with 20 points from 5 wins, 5 draws, and 7 losses. They are just 1 point ahead of 11th place Chiba, who are in the relegation zone, so they also want to accumulate 3 more points.
In the first half of the season, Fukagawa took the lead, Musashi once overturned it, but Fukagawa caught up again, resulting in a 2-2 draw.
Musashi lined up in a 4-3-3 formation with Imamura, who returned to the starting lineup for the first time in an official match in a while, at the top. The whole team connected passes and pressed forward toward the goal.
Fukagawa fielded the same starting eleven as the previous match. Their 4-4-2 formation is characterized by solid defense, counterattacks, and coordinated pressing from the front line.
Both teams, focused from the pre-match warm-up, started the game under clear skies with Musashi kicking off.
[First Half]
Both teams aggressively launched attacks from the start.
First, Fukagawa. In the 1st minute of the first half, they moved the ball from the right side to the left side, advancing toward the goal. Although frequently blocked by Musashi's defense, they recovered loose balls and showed strong offensive pressure.
In response, at 2 minutes, Takenami from the DF line stole the ball and advanced with it, then played a vertical pass. Although this ball did not reach the FW, it showed an aggressive attacking stance.
Meanwhile, the first shot was taken by Fukagawa. At 4 minutes, they earned a free kick on the right side of midfield, with Taya as the kicker.
A long ball was played to the center, and the loose ball was volleyed. This gave the team momentum.
In defense, at 8 minutes, Musashi played a long ball behind the DF line, and GK Omoto rushed out beyond the penalty area to clear it.
Musashi’s guardian Yamada calmly punched away a high ball from Fukagawa’s free kick at 14 minutes, with both goalkeepers showing great plays.
The match gradually saw Musashi take control of the ball, while Fukagawa simply aimed to exploit the space behind Musashi's defensive line.
At the 17th minute, Nagasawa faced forward in midfield and dribbled forward, then played a through pass to Imamura. Fukagawa's goalkeeper Omoto rushed out and cleared the ball.
At 20 minutes, Amano and Nagasawa connected quick passes in midfield, and finally Imamura aimed a header, but it went wide.
At 23 minutes, multiple players, mainly Suzuki and Mizuta, combined on the left side to break through with passing. Although it was cleared once, they regained possession and delivered a cross from the right side.
However, the Fukagawa defense responded tenaciously and protected the goal.
Having endured the tough period, Fukagawa now launches a counterattack.
They played the ball behind the opponent's DF line, then, led by Komatsu, the whole team coordinated their pressing and began to regain possession high up the pitch.
At the 28th and 29th minutes, Komatsu and Fukazawa took shots, threatening Musashi's goal.
Musashi responded with a counterattack.
At the 33rd minute, the ball was passed from Suzuki to Mizuta on the left side, and Mizuta sent a soft floating ball to the center in front of the goal. Nagasawa laid it off and Imamura closed in, but Fukagawa's defenders blocked it with their bodies.
However, the momentum did not change, and at the 35th minute, Haga, receiving a pass from Fukazawa, unleashed a powerful long-range shot, but Musashi GK Yamada made a great save.
At the 37th and 38th minutes, Fukagawa also approached Musashi’s goal, but both teams ended the first half without scoring.
【Halftime】
Coach Kyomasu of Musashi said to the players, "As expected, it's a tight game. Let's clear our heads properly." At the end, he encouraged the players, "You look down! Let's enjoy beating such a strong opponent!"
Fukagawa coach Okuhara encouraged the players, saying, "We have started to apply our press. Because things are beginning to go well, the start of the second half is important. Let's make the most of our legs. That is Fukagawa!"
Both teams made no substitutions and sent their players back onto the pitch.
[Second Half]
The match moves from the very beginning.
Fukagawa took the initiative.
At the 44th minute, Kusazumi sent the ball from the left side to the front of the goal, where Ohira headed it down and Komatsu took a shot.
Although the Musashi DF blocked it once, Ohira reacted to the rebound and powerfully kicked the ball into the right corner of the goal.
Musashi, having conceded the first goal, immediately launched a counterattack. They sent the ball from the left side to the front of the goal, and Nagasawa aimed for the goal with his right foot but was stopped by the post.
At the 46th minute, Fukagawa had a chance to add another goal. Ohira, noticing the position of Musashi's GK Yamada, took a surprising lob shot, but it was deflected by the crossbar.
Fukazawa picked up the rebound and took a volley shot, but failed to connect properly and the ball went over the goal.
Musashi substituted Kubo in place of Yamanobori, switched positions, and changed their attacking approach.
Then, centering around Kubo, Nagasawa and Suzuki got involved, using the left side as a starting point while expanding widely to the right side to pass to Amano, who was waiting.
Just when it seemed they would use the pitch widely, they showed a varied attack, including attempting a central breakthrough from Imamura’s hold-up play.
Fukagawa, who had been enduring such attacks, conceded Musashi’s equalizing goal in the 61st minute.
Kubo took possession of the ball near the right side corner of the penalty area, cut inside, and struck with his left foot.
The ball pierced the upper right corner of the goal, leveling the score.
The match was brought back to square one.
Musashi, who wanted to strengthen the offense, had a player sent off at the 65th minute, leaving them one player short.
Immediately after, on a free kick, Taya sent the ball to Takahashi waiting on the far side, who shook the net with a powerful header, putting Fukagawa back in the lead.
Musashi, despite being one player down, changed their system and took risks to go on the offensive.
At the 71st minute, Takenami stole the ball with his specialty intercept, advanced forward, and took a mid-range shot. Imamura rushed in to follow up on the rebound, but the Fukagawa DF cleared it just ahead of him.
Then, at the 72nd minute, Imamura aimed a free kick from straight in front of the goal with his right foot, but it was deflected off the upper right bar.
Still not easing their attack, Musashi earned a penalty kick at the 74th minute after Fukagawa's defenders brought down Kubo, who was trying to break through the center in front of the goal.
Imamura took the penalty kick, shooting into the right corner to equalize once again.
Fukagawa brought Katayama and Yachida onto the pitch, aiming once again for the go-ahead goal.
After that, intense back-and-forth continued with Musashi pressing near the goal while Fukagawa launched counterattacks.
The added time displayed was 3 minutes.
The deciding moment in this seesaw game came in the final play.
Fukagawa emerged victorious in the fierce battle.
After winning the ball in Fukagawa's territory and launching a counterattack, they connected through Ohira and Yachida, and finally Komatsu slid the ball into the right corner of the goal for the winning goal.
The match ended at that moment.
