○Match Digest
Tokyo U-18, who started the league with a win, firmly focused their mindset on the important Sec. 2 match against Yokohama FC Youth and prepared accordingly. On the other hand, Yokohama FC Youth had their first match postponed due to severe weather, so this Sec. 2 match was effectively their league opener. The away venue, Yokohama FC LEOC Training Center, located on a hill, was swept by even stronger gusty winds. The fiercely contested match kicked off at 2:00 p.m.

Yokohama FC was quick to take consecutive shots early on. FC Tokyo, calmly responding, saw Nagasawa on the right side skillfully control a ball carried by the wind at the 4th minute, cut inside, and Kishi, breaking through the center, calmly scored to take the lead!! However, Yokohama FC did not hang their heads and pressed forward using their two forwards and speedy wide players. Supported by the wind, Tokyo began to get used to the opponent’s attacks, took control of the ball, and launched their own offense. Then at the 25th minute, a ball stolen through Aoki’s aggressive defense became the starting point, and with their characteristic passing play, they advanced close to the goal. However, when Nagasawa brought the ball to the finish, it seemed he was fouled by an opposing defender, causing play to momentarily stop. Seizing this brief gap, Kishi pushed in the rebound and extended the lead against Yokohama FC!! Tokyo dominated by cutting off the ball with persistent pressing and creating many scoring chances, ending the first half 2-0.

"There were some bad moments along the way, but it’s significant that we were able to continue playing our style of soccer. The next goal will be crucial. If it gets overturned, the match will change completely. Let’s not be passive and keep pressing the opponent!" The players, having confirmed this with Coach Motoyoshi, headed onto the pitch for the second half.

However, just after the start of the second half in the 49th minute, they conceded a goal from a set piece. In the 52nd minute, Aihara was brought on to replace the injured Aoki, with Aihara playing right back and Tamiya shifting to left side half. Yokohama FC, now with the wind advantage, used many long balls to press toward Tokyo’s goal. The momentum was broken by Kawakami, who stole the ball from the opponent in the 66th minute, dribbled through the center, and struck a powerful left-footed shot!! Just five minutes after it seemed the momentum was shifting to Tokyo, Kawakami received his second yellow card of the day and was sent off. Despite being at a numerical disadvantage and the flow of the game turning, Tokyo faced it with united defense. In the 84th minute, Hasukawa was brought on to replace Kishi. However, in the 88th minute, although Hasukawa cleared an opponent’s corner kick, the second ball was taken by the opposition and they pushed it in to score. Despite being pressured by Yokohama FC until the end of the match, Tokyo held firm and secured a 3-2 victory.

A resolute will to win overcame adversity and succeeded in securing victory. The battle to return to the Premier League continues with no room for defeat in any match. The strength to win even in tough situations is a source of confidence, and the issues revealed by conceding goals will be thoroughly addressed. With an unbreakable spirit in any circumstance, we aim for victory in the next battle.
