○ Match Digest
The final match of the second league in the 14th Tokyo Club Youth U-17 Soccer Championship, coming in with 1 win and 1 loss. This match against Mitsubishi Yowa SC Youth, tied with 3 points, is a must-win to advance to the 3rd place playoff. The crucial match kicked off at 1:00 p.m. at the Tokyo Gas Musashino-En Multipurpose Ground.
Tokyo, actively pushing forward with the mindset of "Let's give everything we have for 90 minutes," showed bold advances mainly on the left side with Ito and Tamiya from the start. Tokyo's attack bore fruit in the 18th minute. Nagasawa dribbled past the Yowa defenders from the halfway line. Ito, running in from the left side, slid the ball in to score the opening goal!! Then, in the 26th minute, Kishi, receiving the ball up front, fired a shot that pierced the net for an additional goal!! On the right side, Aoki and Yamagishi also moved forward aggressively, launching a wide attack using both flanks to shake Yowa. Against Yowa, who had pushed forward, in the 42nd minute, Kishi dribbled into the area from the left side, and Ito, running onto the dropped ball, broke free from the Yowa defenders and struck sharply with his right foot!! Then, just before the end of the first half at the 45th minute, Yajima received a pass from Aoki on the right side and pushed in the fourth goal!! Even when Yowa took shots, Tokyo cleared them firmly, ending the first half in good shape with a 4-0 lead.
At halftime, the players confirmed with Coach Motoyoshi, "We ended the first half in good shape. Let's continue with quick transitions. However, the opponent will not stay the same. They will come at us with a different approach than in the first half. Because this is such an important match, let's keep up our effort firmly in the second half as well!!" The players then headed back onto the pitch for the second half.
However, just after the start of the second half at the 49th minute, they were quickly penetrated into their own penalty area and conceded a goal. Yowa, who had adjusted from their aggressive first-half approach, showed resilience and created more than twice as many chances as Tokyo, with a series of corner kicks and free kicks. There were moments when it seemed they had pushed the ball in from a corner kick, but here, goalkeeper Ito led a focused defense, gradually regaining control of the flow. At the 59th minute, Watanabe was brought on to replace Aoki. Despite repeatedly taking shots aiming for an additional goal, they could not shake the net. At the 77th minute, Yamaguchi replaced Yajima; at the 82nd minute, Shimodaira replaced Ito; at the 87th minute, Gokatsu replaced Yamagishi; and in stoppage time, Takada replaced Nagasawa. Everyone kept running until the final minute, securing a 4-1 victory.
Although we suffered a defeat in the first match of the tournament, we secured two solid wins afterward and advanced to the next stage. We will thoroughly review the issues and communication revealed in these three matches with the new team and head into the third-place playoff with the passionate soccer displayed in this match against Yowa.
