Commentary

Tokyo Metropolitan Club Youth Soccer U-13 Final Tournament 1st Round. The opponent is FC. Toccano. The match starts with the players nervous in their first official tournament match.

Along with the pre-match tension, the game struggles to settle against the opponent's sharp start. Although the ball is taken, it is quickly passed back to the opponent repeatedly. The opponent also sends the ball to two forwards up front, attacking the U-15 Fukagawa goal, but the defenders hold firm and somehow fend off the attacks.

At 15 minutes, as they endured the opponent's attacks and gradually began to accurately connect the ball they had won to create chances, they earned a corner kick on the right side. Yamagishi took a shot on the rebound from the corner kick. Nagayama then headed the shot ball, changing its trajectory and scoring a goal, but it was ruled offside.

They wanted to build momentum, but the opponent increased the pressure further and advanced toward the U-15 Fukagawa goal. The first half remained deadlocked, ending with the opponent having the advantage.

The second half began, and although they tried to regroup, just like in the first half, they struggled to find an opening against the opponent’s sharp defense. The opponent expanded their chances through counterattacks. At the 50th minute, the opposing forward broke free and faced the goalkeeper one-on-one, but Gyoda made a fine save to hold them off. Continuing to defend mainly through the defenders against ongoing attacks, at the 85th minute, Sawai scored the opening goal with a sliding shot from a free kick near the center circle while competing with an opponent.

After scoring the opening goal, the opponent launched a fierce attack, but we managed to hold on mainly thanks to Ito, who came on as a substitute, and advanced past the 1st Round. Although the tension, which we are not used to, left us with the challenge of not being able to make our usual decisions, we hope that this victory has sparked a new awareness, and we want to fight in the Best 12.
