Commentary
The opponent in the 3rd Round of the Club Youth Soccer Tokyo Preliminary Final Tournament was Forza’02, who advanced after defeating Suginami Ajax in the previous match by penalty kicks. Under a cloudy sky, the whistle blew at 5:30 p.m. and the match began. The game was intense from the start. Both teams struggled to gain control, with fierce battles for the ball and aerial duels as the opponent tried to find their rhythm. Although we wanted to control the ball and dictate the match, neither side could take the lead as time passed. The first chance came in the 21st minute when Takei, breaking through from the second line, took a shot with his left foot, but it was caught by the goalkeeper. In the 33rd minute, from a corner kick opportunity, Sugaya tried to score directly from the rebound, but the shot missed the target. Near the end of the first half, Tokuda took a long-range shot but failed to score, and the half ended.
At 36 minutes into the second half, a brief lapse allowed the opponent to break through on the right side and take a shot, conceding a regrettable opening goal. At 38 minutes, Kamoike was brought onto the pitch, followed by Miura at 42 minutes, both aiming for an equalizing goal. At 45 minutes, Iwata took a shot while drifting to the right, but it lacked power and was caught by the opposing goalkeeper. Then at 49 minutes, Aoki made a well-timed overlapping run, cut back, and crossed with his left foot, connecting with Iwata’s head, but the ball went wide. At 54 minutes, Yoshida received a throw-in from Takei on the left side, broke free, and crossed. Sugaya took a shot on the rebound from a contested ball, but a foul was called during the challenge. At 56 minutes, Kojima entered the pitch. At 57 minutes, Kamoike surged up the right side and crossed, but Takei’s dive just missed reaching the ball. With less than 10 minutes remaining, the team patiently maintained possession and pressed forward. Then at 64 minutes, Tokuda received the ball in midfield, sliced through the left side with individual skill, and took a shot. Although initially saved by the opposing goalkeeper, Iwata powerfully struck the rebound from outside the penalty area, finally leveling the score. The opponents desperately sent long balls into their defensive area to push forward, but Asano and Morita repelled them, regained the second ball, and launched an attack. In stoppage time, a dramatic go-ahead goal was born. Miura pressed and intercepted the ball, passing it to Sugaya, who delivered a perfect through ball to Iwata up front. Iwata skillfully got past the opposing goalkeeper’s rush and scored the go-ahead goal. The match ended there, and despite the struggle, the team secured a come-from-behind victory and advanced to the Semifinal Round. Today, all of Musashi’s players united and fought with full effort, so we want to carry this momentum and challenge ourselves with full force again tomorrow.
