旋風巻き起こす京都を迎撃だ

　１stステージも終盤戦となった第13節は、現在7連勝中と波に乗る京都パープルサンガとの対戦だ。だが京都は、前節8月4日（日）にF・マリノスと死闘の延長戦を戦っており、中2日でこの試合に臨む。また警告累積で、FW松井、MF中払、DF鈴木（和）という主力選手を欠き、決して万全の状況ではない。

　ここで京都の勢いを止めて勝ち星をあげれば、上位に食い込む可能性も十分残されている。東京にとって少しでも有利な条件をプラス材料にして、3連勝をめざしたい。下平を警告累積で欠くが、浅利が7節以来の出場でボランチに。また前節と同様右サイドバックには茂庭が入り、キックオフを迎えた。

Awaiting In Form Kyoto 

The visitors for the 13th.game of the first stage were Kyoto Purple Sanga, currently riding a seven game unbeaten run. However, a two hour battle with F Marinos the previous Sunday and the suspension of regulars Matsui, Nakaharai and Suzuki meant they were below full strength and an F.C.TOKYO win would see them leapfrog Kyoto in the league table. TOKYO, looking for a third consecutive win themselves, were without the suspended Shimotaira, but welcomed back Asari in the defensive half position for his first start since April. Moniwa continued at right side back; the game kicked off at 7:04 pm with the mercury showing 30C. 

土肥のファインプレー、アマラオの勝負強さが光る前半

　立ち上がりから両者ともにコンパクトな布陣で、密集した中盤でつぶしあい、チャンスらしいチャンスはつくれず。京都のMF中村が7分、東京DFのクリアボールを拾って放ったミドルが、この試合のファーストシュートとなった。8分には、宮沢から石川へのパスをカットされ、センターフォワード黒部に突破をはかられるが、伊藤が素早く戻って対処。ピンチには至らず。18分、ゴール前でパスをつながれ攻め込まれるが、茂庭の判断のよいプレーでCKに逃れた。

　だが22分のことだった。カウンターから再びペナルティエリアの中に侵入しようとする黒部に対して、競っていた藤山がファール。決して激しいプレーではなかったが、黒部のスピードに屈した形でPKの判定を受けてしまう。しかし黒部が蹴ったPKは、土肥がコースの甘さを見逃さずセーブ！　決定的なピンチを土肥のファインプレーで脱した。

　けれども京都は、3-4-3の攻撃的なフォーメーションだが、守備に回るときには5-4-1と、DFを厚くし、東京はボールの出しどころがない状況に。25分、27分、28分には再三、DFラインの裏を狙いパスを送るがタイミングが合わず、リズムが作れない。29分には、右サイドからケリーがドリブルで攻めあがると、戸田がペナルティエリアでボールを受け左サイドへリターンを返す。だがそのボールに対して、フォローに上がったケリーと後ろから走りこんだ宮沢が交錯。どこかちぐはぐな感は否めない。31分には、右サイドからのクロスを戸田がヘッドで落とすと、DFの裏に抜け出したアマラオがフリーでシュート。だがボールはクロスバーを直撃、スタンドの溜息を誘った。

　ところが39分、石川のクロスに合わせようとしたアマラオが、ペナルティエリアで倒され今度は東京がPKをゲット。意外な形で先制点のチャンスが生まれたが、アマラオ自らがこれを蹴りこみ、苦しい状況の中でも1点をリード。後半へと折り返した。

A Tale Of Two Penalties 

Both sides began the contest in compact form, squeezing play into the crowded midfield area. Kyoto midfielder Nakamura essayed the first shot of the match after 7 minutes but his attempt had no power and Doi held easily. Kurobe intercepted a loose pass from Miyazawa to Ishikawa a minute later and bore down on goal-Ito scrambled back to clear the danger. Moniwa was on hand in the 18th. minute to break up a threatening Kyoto move. A largely uneventful first half burst into life in the 22nd minute as Kyoto centre forward Kurobe, chasing a long ball with Fujiyama in attendance, collapsed in a flailing mass of arms and legs on the edge of the area. The referee pointed to the spot; justice was served though as Doi read the kick well and dived to his left for a great save. 
TOKYO were making little headway at the other end of the field. 
While Kyoto lined up in an attacking 3-4-3 formation, when they lost possession this quickly changed to a defensive 5-4-1, pulling players behind the ball and denying the home side space to work in. Boosted by the penalty save TOKYO ventured forward but the last pass was not forthcoming; on the one occasion a chink appeared in the Kyoto defensive armour Kelly and Miyazawa both went for the same ball with the result that neither made contact. In the 31st. minute Toda neatly headed a right wing cross into the path of Amaral who burst beyond two defenders and hammered a volley against the bar with the keeper rooted to the spot. The crowd gasped in disbelief. 
The " King of Tokyo" soon redeemed himself however, going down in the area to win a penalty, then stepping up to send the Kyoto keeper the wrong way. The half ended 1-0 to TOKYO. 

後半開始直後に同点に追いつかれ…

　前半終了間際のゴールで勢いに乗りたい東京。負傷した浅利に代えて喜名を投入、後半に臨んだ。だが、気迫をゴールに代えたのは京都のほうだった。後半開始間もない46分、京都右サイドからのスローインのボールを細かくつないで、ボランチの斉藤がドリブルで左に持ち込む。そして左サイドのスペースにパス。そこに走りこんだMF鈴木（慎）のクリーンシュートがヒット。ネットに突き刺し、東京はまたたく間に同点に追いつかれた。

　48分にはFKからアマラオがヘディングシュート。その直後には、アマラオからのリターンパスを受けた喜名がミドルシュート。56分には石川が右サイドを突破し、クロスを上げるが、ファーサイドでは誰も合わせられず。押し込みながら反撃する東京だがゴールは遠く、逆に京都のパスカットからカウンターを受ける形で、度々苦境に立たされる。

　そして57分、茂庭が攻め上がりクロスを送るも京都DFが大きくクリア。このボールを黒部がヘッドで競ると、拾ったFW冨田がキープし、左サイドのスペースを駆け上がったFW朴にパス。韓国代表の朴はそのスピードを活かしてゴール前に突進すると、滑り込みながらシュートを放ってゴール。カウンターが見事に決まり、東京は2点目を失うことになった。

Equaliser Spurs Kyoto 

Kina replaced the injured Asari as TOKYO took the field for the second half. Expectations had been raised by Amaral's penalty strike but were soon to be cruelly dashed. Only a minute into the second period some neat short passing saw defensive half Saito surge forward and roll the ball into oceans of space on the left. Kyoto midfielder Suzuki met the ball at full speed and powered a shot past Doi into the roof of the net for a stunning equaliser. 
TOKYO attempted to bounce back but their efforts were undercut by some loose passing and wayward crosses; in a matter of minutes momentum had passed to the visitors. Disaster struck for the home side in the 57th. minute as a cross from Moniwa, up supporting the attack, was cleared by the Kyoto defence to Kurobe who headed on to Tomita. Tomita held the ball up and passed into the path of Korean World Cup star Park Si Jung who outpaced the TOKYO defence to slot home for a classic counter attacking goal. 

総力をあげた反撃もむなしく

　後半、京都エンゲルス監督は「冨田をサイドに張り出させたかったため」と、右サイドにいた朴と左の冨田のポジションをチェンジ。朴が中央寄りに位置し、スピードと運動量を活かしてサイドと連係を取ることで、キレのある攻撃を仕掛けてきていた。

　そして64分、ペナルティエリア右角付近に黒部と冨田が攻め込むと、東京DFがファール。このFKを朴が蹴り、ファーサイドでDF角田がヘッドで合わせてつなぐと黒部が押し込み、3点目をゲット。チャンスをゴールに結びつける、京都の執念を見せつけられることとなった。

　東京失点直後の65分、藤山に替えて福田を投入。石川を左に、戸田を右に置く3-5-2のフォーメーションで、ともかく1点をと反撃に臨む。京都は前線とDFラインが徐々に間延びしスペースができるが、そこで決定的なシーンを作り出すことができない。72分、FKからアマラオが放ったヘディングシュート、74分ケリーのシュートもゴールの上。

　最終ラインをガッチリ固める京都の前に、ジャーンも果敢な攻め上がりを見せ、84分には石川に替えて星を投入。だがロスタイムの反撃も、京都DFの壁の前に思い切りが悪く、消化不良のままタイムアップ。東京のよさを見せられず、痛い敗戦を喫した。

【原監督の会見要旨】「今日は完敗。体が重くて、前半もあまりいい出来ではなかった。土肥がPKを防いでくれて、こちらもPKをもらえてよかったが。相手がこちらの攻撃に対して、早く戻ってスペースを消してきた。本来そういう相手に対してもボールを動かしながら、もう少しアクセントをつけたり、ワンツーで崩して攻めたいと考えていたが、ピリッとしない中で、カウンターを仕掛けられた。向こうは奪ったときには全員が転じるので、攻撃に対して対応できない場面があった。相手との競り合いでも、全部京都側にこぼれてしまい、勢いの差が出たと思う。後半始まってすぐの失点も、スローインからしっかり競らないで、相手側にこぼれて回され、やられてしまった。何よりボールの取られ方が悪く、自分たちでリズムを崩していた。課題がすごく多かったし、気持が入っていない試合になってしまい残念だ。浅利のケガ、藤山の警告累積で苦しい状況であるが、神戸戦に向けて立て直しを図りたい」

【京都・エンゲルス監督会見要旨】前節日曜日に延長戦を戦ったため、今日はDFから入り、カウンターを狙ってから前へいきたかった。それもできてはいたが、相手も我々にプレッシャーをかけてきて、なかなかいいリズムを作れず、少し消極的になってしまった。だが危ないシーンは、失点のPKまではほとんどなかった。ビハインドを背負ったが、基本的にポジショニングもよく、行き方も悪くなかった。だから後半もうちょっと元気にいけば絶対チャンスはくると考えていた。後半同点にしたタイミングも非常によく、自分たちのペースになって、すぐ追加点を奪った。3点取ってからは疲労もあって守りに入ってしまったが、最後までしっかり守って勝った。久し振りに先制点を奪われ、PKもはずすという苦しい条件、さらにF・マリノス戦の疲れもあったが、その中で選手はすごくハートを見せたと思う。それが今日のキーポイントだ」

Third Goal Stymies TOKYO 

The speedy Tomita and Park had switched positions as instructed by Kyoto manager Engels and the result was two goals in 12 minutes, both from counter attacks. A third soon followed as Tokyo conceded a free kick on the right. Park curled a long ball beyond the far post, Kakuda headed it back into the danger area where Kurobe was on hand to nod past Doi. 
Fukuda replaced Fujiyama and TOKYO shifted to a 3-5-2 formation with Toda on the right and Ishikawa on the left, but still the Kyoto defence remained impregnable. Amaral headed a free kick wide after 72 minutes and Kelly fired over two minutes later. Hoshi replaced Ishikawa in the 84th. minute and Jean lent his formidable prescence to the attack but TOKYO were firing blanks and the game petered out to a depressing 1-3 loss. 

TOKYO manager Hara : 
" A complete defeat. We looked heavy and never really got going at all in the first half. Doi made a great save from the penalty and we converted ours but were unable to create much on the counter attack as they got men behind the ball very quickly. We didn't have the spark needed to open up a defence in those conditions. Kyoto were first to the ball throughout and had more desire than we did. We didn't compete at the throw in which led to their first goal but most disappointing was the way we gave away possession. There was a lack of fighting spirit, which was also disappointing. Despite the injury to Asari and Shimotaira's suspension we'll just have to regroup and come out fighting in the Vissel Kobe game". 

Kyoto manager Engels : 
" Well, after playing extra time on Sunday night I felt a defensive approach would be favoured today, with the emphasis on counter attacking. They pressured us in the first half and we played rather negatively. Apart from the penalty we conceded we weren't really under much pressure defensively and I felt that the team's basic positioning was good and that with a more positive approach in the second half we could turn the game around. The timing of the equaliser was perfect; we found our rhythm and timing, scored two more and then defended well. We missed a penalty, fell behind and were still feeling the effects of the F Marinos game but the players showed their heart today ".
