INTERVIEW 2026.1.23

Okinawa Camp Report DAY 12

Training on January 23

On the 12th day of the Okinawa Itoman Camp, time was mainly devoted to build-up play and set pieces at the Nishizaki Athletic Stadium.

During the build-up training, Coach Rikizo MATSUHASHI gave instructions on countermeasures against the opponent's press. The team trained repeatedly to ensure everyone could visualize the same play.

Furthermore, the set-piece practice included drills designed for various scenarios.

There is only one day left in this season's camp. The blue and red team will unite as one and strive for the championship. The foundation for this was surely built here in Okinawa.

CAMP VOICE vol.6 Teruhito NAKAGAWA

Q. There is only one day left in this season's camp.
A. Personally, there were days when I wanted to push a little harder, but unlike previous years, I have the impression that the training menu was tailored to each individual's condition.

Q. It seems like there are fewer injuries compared to previous years.
A. Considering that in past years there were players sidelined due to muscle injuries, I think it’s been a while since we’ve had so few serious injuries.

Q. During the camp period, a lot of time was devoted to build-up play. How do you feel about the progress and the challenges?
A. I think there is still a difference between when things go well and when they don’t. Of course, there will be failures as well. However, if you don’t take on challenges, you can’t achieve success. You just have to overcome them.

Q, The opening of the Meiji Yasuda J1 Century Vision League is just around the corner.
A, It may be a short half-season, but we are aiming for the championship. We spend each day working toward that goal. The league regulations are different from usual, but since we’re competing, we want to finish first in the EAST group and then win the showdown against the WEST group. Our aim is the top. We want to raise that ambition even higher.

Q. Everyone is talking about winning the championship this season. Do you feel that momentum or something like a breeze?
A. It's a good thing that everyone is expressing the same goal. It's more important for everyone to work toward that goal together than for just one person to say it, and I think a good atmosphere has been created. I believe in something like the power of words, so that's why we all want to cherish it together.

Q. It would be great if Teruhito NAKAGAWA has a “shining” half-season.
A. I want that too. I will do my best.

FOCUS ON - Today's Shot -

'FOCUS ON' selects photos taken by the official photographer on that day. On this occasion, a shooting scene of Motoki NAGAKURA was chosen.

The finishing work of the goal scored in Sec. 15 of the 2025 Meiji Yasuda J1 League match against Yokohama F. Marinos was highly praised and was also selected as the Meiji Yasuda J1 League Monthly Best Goal for June.

Such clever goals may be seen many times again this season. Goals that give off that kind of feeling are being scored one after another even during training in this camp.

Expectations for the versatile striker who has moved to a full transfer continue to grow.
