INTERVIEW 2023.2.03

2023 2nd CAMP REPORT & INTERVIEW
DAY4 Masato MORISHIGE

It has been sunny in Miyazaki, but today the sky is covered with thick clouds. Nevertheless, many people came to watch the practice, just like yesterday.

Today, we adjusted with a relatively light menu due to the midday between yesterday's practice match and tomorrow's practice match.

Conducted practice of using the pitch widely and confirming set plays until the finish. We focused on the next day's practice match and worked on practical menus.

Even in a relaxed atmosphere throughout, there was a strong emphasis on each play during practice, and if there were any mistakes, the players would push each other to maintain a high level of quality within the team.

We will demonstrate the progress made during the camps held in Okinawa and Miyazaki at tomorrow's match, making it a valuable opportunity for the opening game.

A total of 21 days were spent at this season's camp. Captain Masato MORISHIGE gave us a review of the entire camp.

Q, How is the team's growth and individual adjustment going as we have the final practice match of the camp tomorrow?
A, Personally, things are going smoothly, and as a team, we find issues with each match and repeatedly work to resolve them. We want to carry out that process at an even higher level.

Q: Coach Albert PUIG ORTONEDA says that it is important to hold the ball and control the game. Has the level of completion improved compared to last season through the camp?
A, Besides holding possession of the ball, scoring goals is also important, so I believe there are still many things we need to work on.

Q, you said that you need to score goals, but you also conducted a lot of training to improve the quality at the end during the camp.
A, In matches, whether you score or concede goals is crucial. Although we are creating chances now, there are many scenes where we fail to convert them into goals. I believe this can be improved with the right mindset, so I want to maintain a high level of awareness. For my part, what I do remains the same, but if I can deliver more accurate passes from higher positions, I think it will create better situations for our attack.

Q, What effects are there on the team by continuing to play games and practice while trying many combinations without fixing the players, including new recruits?
A, Amidst the competition for positions, the players are able to practice well in order to secure their spots. I believe that if we can have high-level training, it will naturally lead to high-level matches, so I think this is a good thing.

Q, There is an impression that you communicate a lot with young players. Is there anything you are conscious of?
A, it takes the strength of the entire team to achieve results throughout the season. I believe that having new talent emerge from the younger players, like Kuryu MATSUKI who performed well last season, is essential for the team’s growth, so I strive to create an environment where young players can perform comfortably.

Q, What preparations will you make during the remaining period leading up to the opening?
A, I want to focus on building up the finer details and continue to be committed to scoring goals.

Q: Please tell us your goal for this season.

A, I believe that to win the league, it is crucial for everyone to focus fully on each match as if it were a must-win game, so I want to cherish every single match.
