INTERVIEW 2023.1.16

2023 CAMP REPORT & INTERVIEW DAY8 Diego OLIVEIRA

On the 8th day of camp, it was rainy and chilly. Practice was only held in the morning.
Despite it being a weekday, many spectators came to watch. With so many people watching, the players are also motivated during practice.
Among them, the children of Kunigami Kindergarten made and brought Tokyo flags one by one to cheer on the players.
After doing step-based training, we will do acceleration runs, passing work, and positional games with the goalkeeper included. We will continue to train in situations that simulate actual matches.
Finally, the players were divided by area and we played a menu of 4 vs 4, 3 vs 3 plus 1 free man, and 6 vs 6, using the pitch widely.

Tomorrow, we will have our second practice match at the Okinawa camp.

This will be a good opportunity for each player to test the feeling and challenges they felt in the first game.
Through the interviews conducted at this camp, we often heard the words "winning the league title" from the players. For Tokyo, each day becomes incredibly important in order to achieve the long-awaited title, and we can feel that from the attitude of the players who are dedicated to their training.

On the 8th day of camp, we interviewed Diego OLIVEIRA, who was appointed as captain.
Q, how do you feel about being appointed as captain for the second consecutive season?
A, of course I am happy to be appointed captain. I have been with Tokyo for a long time, so I want to contribute to the team with an even greater sense of responsibility.

Q, how is your condition on the 8th day of camp?
A, my condition has been improving day by day. Unfortunately, I was sidelined last season due to injury and was undergoing rehabilitation, but I believe my condition has improved, so I think I will be able to play in even better shape for the opening match.

Q, there was a first practice game the other day, and there will be another practice game tomorrow, but how is the coordination and finishing with the surrounding players?
A, I think the combination will improve day by day. There are many new players, but I want to play from practice so that we can build good coordination with those players as well.

Q, I think Diego player is playing an important role this season as well.
A, last season I was unable to contribute much to the team due to injury, which was unfortunate, but this season, so far, I have no injuries or pain, so I want to work hard to contribute even more compared to last year.

Q, What is your impression of the new players who have joined? There is also Nakagawa in the nearby position.
A, of course, I knew about Nakagawa's presence and recognized him as a very good player, so I am very happy that he came to Tokyo, and I believe he will greatly contribute to the team.

Q, What is your goal for this season?
A, Winning each and every match is the most important thing. I want to make this season a good one. I believe that by winning, we will also get closer to our goals.

Q, what preparations do you need to make for that?
A, This period involves continuous intense training, but the accumulation of effort here is crucial for competing throughout the year. I believe that each individual must fully commit to their practice.
