INTERVIEW 2022.2.04

Interview with Kuryu MATSUKI

Q: The camp is down to its last day. How do you look back on the camp?
A: Since I joined partway through, it was quite challenging, but I believe that both individually and as a team, we are gradually establishing the style of football that Coach Albert PUIG ORTONEDA aims for as we approach the season opener.

Q: Were you able to smoothly blend into the team?
A: Yes, the seniors were very kind, so I was able to fit in quickly.

Q, it must have been reassuring to have teammates like Kajiura and Yasuda who were in the same year as you.
A: Since the two of them, who have been close friends for a long time, are in the same year as me, they were very reliable.

Q: How do you feel about playing as a professional?
A: It’s always a competitive environment where we fight for playing opportunities, but I can’t hold back either. My goal for this year is to "contribute the most to the team," so first, I want to focus on maintaining good condition and working in a way that benefits the team.

Q: Do you talk to your seniors about preparations for the opening?
A: We don't particularly talk about that. As a professional, I want to get on the pitch as soon as possible and play soccer in front of the fans and supporters. I believe that playing enjoyable soccer is the new way for Tokyo, so I am working hard to contribute to that.

Q: How do you think about the challenges and responses you have been working on so far?
A: I feel a sense of progress. Personally, there are still many areas where I am not yet proficient, but I believe those are parts I can gradually improve as I get more accustomed. I am also getting used to the pace of play little by little, so I think I should play confidently and boldly.
