January 16 Training

On the 5th day of the Okinawa Itoman Camp, two training sessions were held. In the morning, gym training took place at the lodging, and in the afternoon, the team worked up a sweat at the Nishizaki Athletic Stadium.
Following the practice match from the previous day, during the pass & control session on this day, Coach Rikizo MATSUHASHI instructed, "Break down the opponent's defense with the precision of each play." Furthermore, the coach said, "We're not just setting up mannequins. Let's visualize it," urging each player to synchronize their breathing while imagining a real match.

At the end of the full team practice, the players split into two groups—defenders and attackers—to review build-up play and other aspects. The aim to strengthen the "Rikizo style" ahead of this season’s opener is increasingly evident in each and every training menu.
CAMP VOICE vol.3 Yuta SUGAWARA

Q: The camp has reached its fifth day. How do you feel about your progress?
A: My primary goal is to stand on the pitch for the league opening match. In that sense, I’m not sure exactly where I stand yet, but I still have a long way to go. I believe I’m gradually getting more playing opportunities in practice matches and training, so I want to make sure I seize those chances.
Q: In yesterday’s practice match against Nagoya Grampus, Kio TANAKA, who was also promoted to the top team, scored a goal. Did that serve as motivation for you?
A: I was jogging and didn’t watch the match, so I found out after returning to the dormitory (laughs). However, it’s definitely better to be the one scoring goals and producing results, so I am motivated by that.
Q: During practice, you also had opportunities to pair up with key players.
A: In those moments, I was conscious of how to express myself. I believe I can show my strengths when the ball comes to me, and I want to highlight the many 'weapons' I have when I possess the ball. Since high-quality balls are delivered from the center backs, playing was enjoyable.
Q: There were also moments when you took on the role of set-piece kicker.
A: I still have a long way to go. It would be great if it leads to a goal, but even though I had the chance to take a kick in yesterday’s practice match, I couldn’t make it happen. If I get the opportunity again, I want to aim for an assist.
Q: What kind of impression do you want to make during the remaining seven days of the camp?
A: I want to deliver solid results in the remaining practice matches and secure a spot in the lineup for the league opener. Of course, I also aim to be in the starting eleven.
Q: Kuryu MATSUKI secured a starting spot from the opening match in his first professional season, gained experience, and then went on to play overseas.
A: Like Kuryu, I hope to show many people myself standing on the pitch from the opening match.
FOCUS ON - Today's Shot -

Today's 'FOCUS ON,' selected by the official photographer, features this shot of Kashif BANGNAGANDE with a smile shining brightly in the tropical setting.
During last season's pre-opening camp, he struggled with injury and often appeared downcast, but this season, Kashif faces soccer with a refreshed and fulfilled expression.
Number 6 in blue and red has to be like this after all!
