Go HATANO Interview

Q, I think we showed a good performance in the Iwata match, but how do you feel looking back on the game?
A, I also reviewed the footage, but there are still many issues to work on. In the second half, there was a scene where I made one save and then immediately made a second save, but I believe that by moving my teammates beforehand, we were able to eliminate the danger itself. It’s not just about my saves; moving forward, I need to be more conscious of those aspects as well.

Q, can you look back on those two consecutive saves?
A, I closed down the space while cutting off the shooting angles. However, I feel that the way I made that save was not exactly as I ideally want it to be. If I had saved it differently, it wouldn’t have resulted in a corner kick and we could have kept possession. I believe I still haven’t performed up to my ideal level. That’s why I need to train more in that area.

Q, including the preseason, you seem to be in very good condition. How do you feel about it?
A, my condition is good. I believe I have been able to do good training since the camp, so I am ready to play in matches at any time. I think I am able to compete at a high level with Kodama and Jakub SLOWIK, so I want to improve my condition even more so as not to lose to the two of them. The goalkeeper position is one where chances can come suddenly, so I believe I must always keep myself prepared to play in matches.

Q, does Swobik also have a burning part when he sees his great performance?
A, I do have that feeling, but I have been watching Hayashi play at a high level and appear in matches consistently since my first year, and that situation has not changed even now. However, having been given the chance to play last season but not this season, of course, there is frustration. I want to always be someone who can protect FC Tokyo’s goal, so I intend to keep working hard without giving up.

Q, what do you think is the role you need to fulfill on the pitch when you seize the chance?
A, I am confident in my play when it comes to the build-up phase, so I hope to create a good rhythm when I have the ball. In terms of coaching, I also want to give more specific instructions to help move my teammates.

Q, I think the part that is required of the goalkeeper has changed since becoming coach Albert. What kind of efforts have you made so far in that regard?
A, I think what is required is something simple. So, I can play without overthinking it, and if the goalkeeper does something too conspicuous during possession, it disrupts the team's rhythm, so I focus on ensuring the team circulates the ball smoothly.

Q, I think we are in a situation where we are hungry for the game now, so I want to continue to appeal.
A, I have the desire to play in matches and express myself, so I always show that in practice and want to demonstrate play that conveys that feeling.
