Q: As the camp is coming to an end and the opening is approaching, how would you like to use the time from here?
A: Ultimately, the coach decides the members, so I just think I need to prepare myself to be at 100% by the opening.
Q, what is your approach to positional play?
A: I believe the most important thing is to try in response to what the coach is asking for, and if errors occur, we should keep correcting them and make things better. If we fail to internalize the style of soccer that is expected, the team won’t succeed, so I think it’s crucial that everyone moves forward facing the same direction.
Q: What do you feel is expected of player Yamashita himself?
A: I think it’s about scoring goals and taking the lead. It’s really about how much work I can do inside the box. In addition to that, I want to further refine my skills in transitioning between offense and defense, as well as my passing and shooting techniques.
Q, in training we are focusing on transitions, especially the high press from the front line after losing the ball, and I think forwards play a very important role in that aspect.
A, although the methods are different, I have always worked on high pressing and transitions. My mind is clear, but the way to transition, how to win the ball, and the tactical defensive methods are slightly different, so I want to thoroughly internalize them.
Q: Will Yamashita adjust to his teammates or will they adjust to his style of finishing as a forward?
A: I think it's both. Compared to the start of the camp, my sense of shooting has improved, but there are limits to what I can do alone, so the process of demanding from my teammates will also become important.
Q: There are two more practice matches during the camp. How would you like to approach them?
A, as the coach also says, it’s about having a winner’s mentality, or rather, being committed to competing. In addition, I think this is a place to actively try out what we have been building up, so I want everyone to take on challenges without hesitation.
