INTERVIEW 2022.1.24

Player Yasuki KIMOTO WEB Interview

Q: It was mentioned that you have a personality that takes time to adapt. How has your experience been during the camp?
A: Gradually, I have more opportunities to talk with the players, and I think I am blending into the team, including during meal times.

Q, I think it's a bright team, so I didn't have much trouble.
A, That's right. Everyone is nice, and there are many young players, so I have the impression that it is a very lively team.

Q: How does it look like the practice is progressing at a fast tempo?
A, The training is very compact, and it's easy to follow because the transition to the next practice is speedy. Even in a short amount of time, we can train with high intensity, so I think we are having good practice sessions.

Q, Are there any characteristics of Coach Albert's training?
A, The switch between on and off, doing things seriously when it's time to do so, is impressive. Since we value the ball, I feel that I can grow personally as well.

Q: How do you feel about playing with Morishige?
A, I have been practicing with Morishige for about a week now, and I have once again realized how high his level is. There is so much to learn from him, so I look forward to each day’s practice and want to continue learning going forward.

Q: How do you feel about the training match?
A, Since we are training under tough conditions, there are still many areas to improve, but what we have worked on during this past week of practice is showing in both myself and the team, so I want to continue this going forward.

Q: Are there any instructions from Coach Albert on how to spend time outside of practice?
A, there are no restrictions outside of practice. I act according to my own judgment and take good care of my body.

Q, how has the progress been so far?
A, I have the impression that we are aiming for a very attractive style of soccer. We were able to show some good moments even in the training matches, and I feel a strong sense of confidence.

Q, considering your experience at Cerezo Osaka, what do you think is important when it comes to positional play?
A, it is necessary to always consider the opponent's positioning and how they apply pressure. In that sense, it is extremely important to understand the distance from those around you and your own positioning when you don't have the ball, so I consciously work on those aspects during practice and matches.

Q, is your experience at Cerezo Osaka coming in handy?
A, I learned a lot about positioning and carefully connecting the ball at my feet during LOTINA's two years as coach, so in that sense, it is useful. There are also parts that differ from Coach Albert PUIG ORTONEDA, so there are some difficulties as well.

Q, Albert's coach seems to have a more offensive impression.
A, I think pressing from the front in defense is a different aspect, and I find the height of the defensive line at that time, as well as the challenge and cover, somewhat challenging.

Q: There was a statement saying that you want to compete as a center back.
A, I am allowed to play most of the time in the back. I intend to play in the position the coach gives me, but for now, since I am playing in the back, I want to bring out my own characteristics.

Q, I think Coach Albert PUIG ORTONEDA gives detailed instructions on how to receive the ball and the direction of the body.
A, I have always been conscious of the direction of my body and playing after constantly being aware of my surroundings, so I don't find it particularly difficult. However, I do feel once again the importance of those fundamental aspects.

Q, please tell us what you are careful about in terms of passing from the center back in order to build up from the back line.
A: I think center backs tend to have the ball for longer periods, so it’s important to judge whether we should move the ball quickly among ourselves or if I should carry the ball forward to create time. I feel that this judgment is crucial.

Q: I feel a lot of respect for Morishige as a player, but at the same time, where do you want to surpass Morishige?
A, I don't think it's an easy barrier to overcome, but I believe I have to deliver a performance that surpasses Morishige, especially in my strong point, which is my footwork skills.
