●Match Digest

The match against Aomori Yamada High School, which was postponed due to the earthquake disaster, was held at 3:00 PM at the Tokyo Gas Fukagawa Ground, where the summer sunshine had returned.

After being eliminated from the club youth tournament, the players have undergone rigorous summer training. On this day’s lineup, first-year student Yuya Ito and second-year student Amos Bouzo started their first Premier League match, with members who earned their spots in the regular lineup taking the field.

At 3 minutes into the match, Reioka reacted to a softly floated through pass in the center, broke free and took a shot. The ball that spilled loose was then shot by Ito, who was waiting, and the net was shaken once, but the goal was disallowed because Reioka was in an offside position. (It's a shame, as Ito's shot was a beautiful goal!)

Afterwards, the battle for control in midfield continued, and Tokyo advanced the game with compact defense, not allowing Aomori Yamada to create chances.

Eager to score the opening goal, Tokyo created chances by attacking deep into the opponent’s territory with the freshman duo Aoki and Ito on the right side, but no goals were scored. At the 33rd minute, from a breakdown by the left-side duo Muramatsu and Nihei, Reioka aimed for the goal from the center but missed the target. At the 36th minute, Muramatsu connected with a header from a right-side corner kick, but the ball went wide. At the 40th minute, Nihei sliced through the center with his specialty dribbling and took a shot, but it was straight at the goalkeeper.

As Tokyo gained more control of the pace, the first half ended 0-0 as it was.

The match continued at Tokyo's pace in the second half, and at the 4th minute, once again, Nihei created a chance with a dribble breakthrough, and Ito, receiving the final pass, shook the net but was just offside. At the 5th minute, Reioka broke through on a through pass from Nozawa and took a shot, but it was blocked by a defender, so no goal. Although the game progressed at a good pace, they struggled to score the opening goal.

Then, in the 10th minute of the second half, they conceded the opening goal easily from a header off a corner kick, giving up the lead with just one chance.

Still, in the 14th minute of the second half, Nihei sped past the DF with a dribble and took a shot leading to a corner kick. From that corner, Buzo Amos headed the ball in to quickly equalize, bringing the match back to square one.

Riding the momentum, Tokyo pressed Aomori Yamada and created several close chances, but the period continued where they struggled to capitalize on opportunities right in front of the goal, with both teams continuously contesting possession.

To break the deadlock, Kamoike and Yoshida were brought on. Then at the 36th minute, Kawakami was also introduced as Tokyo pushed to score a goal.

At the 43rd minute, Aomori Yamada created a decisive chance on the counterattack, but Gokatsu made a desperate defense to steal the ball, saving the team from danger and preventing a goal. In stoppage time, Muramatsu connected with a header from a corner kick, but narrowly missed the goal, and the match ended as it was. The game concluded in a draw.

With this, after completing half of the Premier League with 9 matches, we have 8 points. Although matches where we fail to secure a win continue, the players embody in the game the never-give-up attitude until the end, strength in one-on-one situations, and quick transitions between offense and defense. We look forward to the players' renewed efforts heading into the fruitful autumn ahead. Also, since the next match, Sec. 10 of the Premier League, is once again an away game against Aomori Yamada High School, we want to approach it with thorough preparation.
